Tricia Maguire - Personal Statement

I was born and raised in Monmouth County. I moved to Middletown in 2003 with my husband Bob and our three daughters Maeve, Josie and Fiona who attend Middletown Schools. I’m a small business owner with twenty-five years of experience as a community focused professional, advocate, and executive board level volunteer. I have managerial experience in administration, education, budget management, annual pledge funds, as well as growth, strategic, and master planning. I have served the Middletown community as a volunteer, coach, and educator for 15 years. I’m running to elevate the voice of residents, because your voice matters. When I’m elected, here’s what you can expect.

Invitations to attend meetings as stakeholders. Stakeholders are the groups that new development and redevelopment plans directly impact. They are the residents local to each project, representatives from the BoE and the local PTA organizations, Middletown volunteers with expertise specific to open space & environmental issues appointed to our boards and commissions, local business owners, as well as Police and first responders. Your input is required to make sure each project does it’s best to limit the drain on our township resources and at the same time benefit the community.
Considerations of traffic impacts upon quality of life with redevelopment projects.
Uphold the priority of quality of life and protection of community with regard to the reexamination of the Master Plan.
Expand the expectations of Notifications of Public Meetings and Hearings. In an era of digital marketing and social media I will explore avenues of making sure you are notified timely and invited to provide feedback before votes.
Protection of your privacy. I will immediately explore how to ensure that the privacy policy of the town supersedes questionable case law that the current Township Committee, Administrator and Legal counsel are hiding behind to defend the fact that they betrayed the confidentiality of 11,000 people that live in Middletown.
