Tony Perry - Personal Statement

It has been the honor of my life to serve on the Middletown Township Committee and I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue the work and progress this team has made. Over the past year, I have had the incredible fortune of meeting and working with residents, our emergency services personnel and all of our volunteers who are dedicated to keeping Middletown one of the best places in America to live, work and raise a family.

I am seeking a full-term to the Township Committee to continue the fiscal discipline the residents deserve and expect from their leaders. While municipalities across NJ continue to raise taxes, Middletown has reduced our tax levy two consecutive years and my top priority will always be the responsibility we have to the taxpayer.

In May, the town launched its “Made in Middletown” initiative working to spotlight small businesses across town. I look forward to continuing to build upon the relationships we’ve made and create new relationships with the entrepreneurs that serve and employ our residents. All small businesses should have the ability to easily connect with a member of the Township Committee for questions and assistance if necessary — they’re an integral part of our community and its paramount that we support their efforts.

One of the most important things we can do as members of the governing body is to listen to the people – we will often have differing viewpoints, but we can make sure that everyone is heard and their opinions are understood. I am always accessible, and I would expect nothing less from all of our elected officials.

Middletown is my home — it’s our home — and every decision I make as a member of the Township Committee has, and forever will, come from my drive to keep Middletown the great place it is and has always been.
